Today I was thinking about why I like holding Fiona when she sleeps. It’s because then I know she’s ok. She’s breathing, she’s not too hot or too cold, she’s not hungry or in pain. She’s ok, and sometimes looks really contented. Sometimes I’m still afraid something will go wrong and we will find ourselves back in the NICU.
Speaking of NICU, it must be NICU Nurse Week. Today I saw another of Fiona’s nurses, Sandy. It turns out she used to live on my street, two houses away. She’s good friends with one of my neighbors. I ran into her on my neighbor’s front porch. She was waiting for the neighbor to come out because they were going somewhere together. I had a piece of mail that was put into my mailbox by accident. Ventura is truly a small town.
