I like pronounce the word “outing” as “oating” to make fun of John’s Canadian accent.
Today we had to take the Subi to AAA for insurance reasons. After that we headed down to Ventura Harbor. We put Fi in the Moby and made a stop at Le Petit Cafe where John got a mocha, I got a small hot chocolate, and we also purchased a baguette. Le Petit Cafe is a French restaurant that has the yummiest sweet potato jalapeno soup and their coffees and hot chocolates are rich and have really whipped cream in them.
Then we went to the beach for a little walk. We saw an old shoe, boats on the water, and a dead dolphin (yuck!). We also saw an old band from the ‘80’s (Flock of Seagulls, ha ha).
The dead dolphin smell grossed me out so went went back inland to the harbor side and walked around. We looked at the boats and joked that the bougainvillea is quite high, which means it could have been planted a long time ago or last week. We saw that there is a new(ish) wine and tapas bar that we will check out once I start drinking again.
The last photo is of the famous Two Trees Landmark that can be seen from far away in the ocean. Apparently it used to be Five Trees, but now we’re down to two.
We took some photos and then looked at the Fisherman’s Memorial. The guy on the right is wearing shorts and has a beer belly.
After that, John went to Margarita Villa to get an order of their shrimp enchiladas (they used to have crab, so good!) while I went to Coastal Cone for some ice cream. Here is the view from Margarita Villa while we waited for our order.
Side note, my cholesterol has gone up about 30 points since getting pregnant so I may not be eating a whole lot more ice cream in the near future.
When we came home, we found a pleasant surprise. Someone (cough, Grandma, cough) went to Babies R Us and bought pants and more receiving blankets for Fiona. That same someone also bought drinking glasses for us because we’ve managed to break all but three of the glasses we received a wedding gifts. We’ve been using little tea cups that Katie gave me for Chanukah.
