Sleep has been interesting lately. First, we got rid of the late night bottle and learned that Fiona can sleep for 5 hours at a time without it. Then she spent two days eating every 1 1/2 to 2 hours, round the clock. NOT fun and exhausting. She gained 4 1/2 – 5 ounces (that’s almost 150 grams) in 3 days (all in her head I think). Then she slept for 7 hours one night, and then most of the following day. The next night she fell asleep at 9 and slept until 2, then up again at 4 and again at 6. She’s sleeping now (8am). I have been reading a book a friend gave me about sleeping and eating schedules and I think I am going to try some of the techniques. I can’t just follow the book because there is no way that Fiona will only eat 5 times a day and that is what the book recommends. She still needs to catch up in size a little and I now know that I am not a crying-it-out kind of parent. Not yet anyway. And she’s been consistently sleeping from 8 until 2 or so every night. We are going to attempt a schedule of feedings and nap times based on what she is doing right now.
Some other developments in Fiona-land are: She reached out and grabbed a handful of my hair. She plays with my fingers and reaches out to take and hold small objects like the little finger puppets we bought for her bath or her rattle. She rolls from her back to side and looks like she’s trying to go all the way. She almost rolled tummy to back today, but when she was almost there, pushed her self back. She makes an “n” sound when she cries. When she wants something or is unhappy, it almost sounds like she’s saying “nine”. She’s so drooly I stopped calling her Fiona and have no adopted the Droolie Andrews name permanently. She still likes to eat her hand, but now she chews on both hands. Her feet look bigger.
I returned my hospital pump! The coffee table seems so empty, like something is missing. Please pardon the mess. Those who know me know that I normally keep a very neat and clean house.
Here are two photos taken minutes apart. Fiona is so squirmy and wiggly, she rotates herself on her mat.
I discovered she can sit up if I prop her against a pillow (no photos though) and if I pull her up from flat, she can keep her head up.
Here are more photos:
Sometimes she looks very serious:
This is her “Whatup Homes?” look:
Just kidding:
Where is Fiona? She’s hiding in her daddy’s robe.
Being burped so I can eat my dinner. She’s just hanging out:
I still can’t believe how big she is getting!
