Fiona is sick again. She has a mystery fever that started on Sunday. At it’s highest it was 104.4 degrees. Mostly it hangs out between 102.5 and 103.5. She has been sluggish, spending most of yesterday and today lying on me, sometimes awake, sometimes whining, sometimes sleeping. There have been periods of play time when she manages to make a huge mess with her toys, giggle and laugh, and give us things (she really likes handing over toys, especially her pacifier that she tries to shove in my mouth on a regular basis). Her sleep at night has been awful. There was no sleep to be had on Saturday night or Sunday night. She is hardly eating any solids (a few pieces of cheese and a few bites of yogurt today) but is nursing a lot. Almost like a newborn again.
I took her to the doctor but she doesn’t have any other symptoms right now. Her ears, mouth, and nose are all clear, her heart and lungs sounds great, her stomach sounds good and is nice and soft. It’s just a high temperature and an unhappy baby. And she hasn’t even been around any babies is at least two weeks or any sick people at all! I don’t even know where this is coming from! I’m hoping it magically goes away on its own tomorrow.
We are supposed to fly to Canada this weekend to visit family there, but it looks like we may have to cancel. If she is not fever free by Thursday morning we will postpone the trip, which will cost us a lot of money. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone and introducing them to Fiona, and also to travel with her.
Here are a couple of photos of her recently, looking much happier and enjoying being clothes-less in the hot (high 70’s/low 80’s) weather.
