I try to take Fiona out for a walk around the neighborhood every day, even if the weather is not so nice. Now that she tolerates the ERGO carrier, it’s very easy to strap her on and go. The other day was sunny and mild, so we decided to visit the tortoises. They were eating lettuce.
On the way home, I noticed an outbreak of trees in garbage cans:
Is something amiss? Or is it just the first yard waste day after New Year’s?
The last photo is our own tree peaking out of our can.
Yes, she wears sunglasses. They allow her to keep her eyes open and look around in the bright sunlight.
My dad and I went for a walk with Fiona and the sky looked amazing. I took a photo with my phone. The sky looks cool, but completely different than in reality. It looks like it’s on fire. Not why I took the picture, but neat anyway.
I wish I knew how to take photos that look like what it is that I am photographing. I know my phone has its limitations, but in general, I hate that I see something wonderful, like the sky that was all red and cloudy, and when I take the picture, it looks orange and grey and not at all as dramatic as it was in person.
Fiona has discovered her toes, especially on her changing table. She spends a lot of time with her legs straight up in the air:
She has also discovered my toes…
…and my nose. If she can get to it, she likes to lick and gum my nose. I have no idea why or where this behavior comes from. It’s cute but very slimy. She thinks it’s hilarious. She also likes to “fly” through the air. She can sit for up to 30 seconds (sometimes longer if she is pre-occupied with a toy). Solids, sitting, attempts to crawl…my little baby is growing up and it makes me sad. I now understand why my mother (and all mothers really) treats me like a little girl sometimes. It’s so hard to imagine that one day she will be walking and talking, and a part of me wants her to stay this small and cute forever, minus the teething. I can live without the teething.
I love you baby!
