One of our more treasured NICU pleasures is giving Fiona a bath. The first bath we gave her was on June 29. It wasn’t her first bath ever, but it was a first for us. She may look like she is crying, but in fact, she was very happy in the bath. She was rooting around, looking for a boob. In one photo, she looks like she’s giving us directions. She’s also received a number of manicures, courtesy of her daddy. Her nails grow so fast and we don’t want her to scratch herself! He’s become quite adept at clipping her little claws.
The second bath we gave her was on July 4. While everyone else was out enjoying fireworks and barbeques and celebrating our nation’s birthday, we were happily cleaning Fiona and washing her hair.
We’ve since given her several more baths. During one, we learned the importance of washing her hair first, while she still has a diaper on. We usually do this step last, and one day she must have been feeling very relaxed because she released her bowels all over me, her blankets, her wires, everything. It was a mess and a half!
