Updates on Us

Fiona had her first Indian food. She loved it. My dad and I went to Bollywood Cafe in downtown and had a great experience. The service was phenomenal. They treated us very warmly and welcomed Fiona, talked to us about her, and talked to her. The food was very good and it was prepared just right for Fiona to eat, not too hard or too soft. We asked for mild and we got it.

On another note, I have survived my first week back in the classroom. So far, my students are wonderful and I am enjoying myself, although I do feel a little like a fish out of water and like I don’t really know what I’m doing. I’m a little surprised every time my students do what I ask them to. I am exhausted at the end of the day though. Fiona hasn’t been sleeping through the night and she is not taking her afternoon naps.

I love working only part time. I get to teach, but then come home early and spend the rest of the day with Fiona. Getting work done is difficult and I don’t have a lot of time. I am a little worried about what is going to happen when classes resume at UCSB.

Now, I am off to grade papers, plan my lessons, make answer keys, finalize a syllabus, make seating charts, and write a test.

By the way, Fiona has been taking steps every day, including six steps a few days ago. She is babbling like crazy and her sounds are starting to sound like words. I finally bought her a pair of shoes. She had her 15 month check up and her pediatrician is really happy with her development and agreed that she is definitely getting cuter!

My dad took her for a walk the other day. He announced, “I’m taking Fiona for a walk,” and off they went:

Note the finger in the mouth. Yes, she is teething again. It’s been about two weeks. No breakthroughs yet. I hope they come in soon, because she stopped sleeping through the night and is getting crankier by the day.

Swinging at the park:

She loves it when I run back and forth next to her.

She is starting to have attitude (but in a good way):

She weighs well over 19 pounds and is almost 30 inches tall. Her head is about 18 inches around. Her cuteness is out of this world though.
