Two Years Adjusted

Today should have been Fiona’s birthday. But instead she is two years and two months old. At MyGym, she is probably one of the older children, but by far not the largest. However, I am starting to notice that she is one of the more physically capable kids. She can climb things and do tricks that some of the younger kids can’t yet and even some of the older kids don’t. I think I am finally starting to feel like she is really two and really caught up. To celebrate her upcoming adjusted birthday, and maybe because we forgot her homecoming day (July 21 is the day we became real parents, if anyone is interested), she peed in the potty all by herself several times. Every day she does it at least once, and yesterday it was twice. Today she took off her shorts and diaper, kicked me out of the bathroom, and proceeded to pee in the potty several times, climbing down and wiping herself (yes, too much information, I know) and only then asking for help in flushing. She also asked for help when she made a mess of the toilet paper because she forgot to detach it from the rest of the roll. My little baby is growing up…sniffle sniffle.

Here are some recent photos:

Practicing the desperate crawl in case she is ever lost in the desert:

For the record, she frequently dresses (and undresses) herself, so she knew exactly what she was doing in these pictures. My silly Fi!

She is becoming quite the goofball and likes to tell me when something is funny. She also runs around and laughs like a madwoman and has started speaking in three word sentences. I get really excited, then don’t write them down and forget what she said by the time John gets home. But I swear she is doing it. Today I went to the dentist and when I left she said, “Bye bye. Drive safely.” We have begun to have little conversations about things such as what we did today or yesterday, where we went, or what animals we saw (because so many of our outings involve animals, the county fair being the latest adventure).

I love that girl! She brings so much joy to my life. It’s so interesting to see how she is growing and developing, and watching her little personality take shape. I’m going to stop before I get teary eyed or start blubbering incoherently.

Have a good weekend!
