Weekend Recap

Just when I thought Fiona’s outfits couldn’t clash anymore, John brings her to me dressed like this:

The day before she was wearing the same onesie with purple polka dotted pants, and I thought that was bad! I LOVE the Monkey pants, but they just do NOT go with the onesie.

Lately, I’ve noticed that I spend an awful lot of time sniffing my daughter’s behind to see if she pooped. I think I understand how dogs feel. I also had a gross parent moment, when I realized that I picked up something that Fiona spit out and ate it without even thinking about it.

John took Friday off and we stayed home and did almost nothing. We went to a coffee shop and some other errand that neither of us can remember, and then stayed home with Fiona and cuddled and played and napped. It rained most of the day. Saturday we went out to lunch and finally purchased a real mattress for the bed in our guest bedroom. Previously my old mattress from college was on the bed, on top of a futon pad. Now there is a mattress and box spring, and I can start using the climbing wall in the garage again.

Today, I took Fiona with me to a breakfast party for a pregnant friend of mine. It was the farthest away from home that Fiona has ever been, about 52 miles. She was great in the car, sleeping and then waking and playing quietly on the way there, and sleeping the entire way back!

Here are John and Fiona playing in the kitchen while I make dinner:

And here they are napping together. Note how she is sprawled sideways on him. She slept like that for about an hour.

Here she is sort of standing:

She’s been working on standing all weekend. However, true to form, instead of trying to pull up on something like every other baby that I know, she tries to stand in the middle of the floor where there is nothing to hold on to.

Here is Fiona looking like she is crawling. She isn’t really crawling, but she doesn’t need to. She gets around really well using a combination of sitting, pivoting, and rolling. I think she might never crawl for that reason.

John watched her while I was getting my hair cut. When I got home, he showed me these photos:

Apparently Fiona made her way to the bottle, took it in her hands, rolled onto her back and began drinking. He said he feels like she doesn’t need him anymore. I think she still needs him (see photos above of her napping on him).

Not long ago, we put Panda in her crib. Panda is her first stuffed animal and he kept her company in her isolette and her crib in the NICU. Sometimes she plays with him before falling asleep. Sometimes when I come to feed her in the night, or when John gets her up in the morning, it looks like she’s cuddling Panda. Could this be her first Lovey?

Speaking of sleep, and I know I’m probably jinxing myself, but Fiona basically slept through the night 5 out of the last 7 nights. And for two nights in a row she slept from about 7pm until 4am or later, then went back to sleep until after 6. Today John got her up at 6:30. I really hope this is a trend and not a fluke. I have been waking up at 3 every night expecting to need to feed her. I know that the night that I finally do not wake up at 3, she will.

And, Fiona tried egg the other day. It was a small piece of omelet. She wasn’t too interested in it, but she didn’t spit it out either. I’ll probably wait a little longer to give it to her again.
