First Days of School

Both girls started school last week. Victoria on Monday:

Fiona on Wednesday:

I started  yesterday.

It’s been an adjustment, but we seem to be surviving. Victoria potty trained this summer, allowing us to get rid of some baby gear we no longer need. She seems interested in sleeping in a twin bed again. I hope it lasts so we can get rid of the crib, giving her more space to play in her room and reducing  the amount of stuff we have in the house. Victoria is doing well in preschool, and in a “it’s a small world” coincidence thing, her teacher is the husband of my co-worker, who is just two doors down the hall from me.

Other than that, I have no new news. Fiona lost another tooth, making a total of 4. Exciting times in these parts, I tell you!

Happy schooling to any and all who at that stage of life!

Proof Victoria Really Is Fiona’s Sister

Not that there was ever any doubt, but here is some photographic evidence that Victoria is really Fiona’s sister:

Let me explain what was happening there. Victoria decided that all the Crocs needed cleaning, so she got them, one by one, and washed them in the water table. She muttered to herself as she picked bits of dirt and plant matter off the bottoms, then lined them up on the little wall. She also has many imaginary friends and often has extended conversations with them, sometimes loudly. These include a Mom and Dad, who are different than the Mommy and Daddy she lives with. She visits them a lot on her way to work. Reminds me of  another little girl who used to do things like this, and may have owned an imaginary alpaca named Stewart.

Here is Victoria again, I am not sure exactly what she was trying to do, maybe raise her legs in the air:

She asked me to take the picture so I could show her Dad (I am not sure if she meant John or her imaginary dad). She is ridiculously cute, very funny, sometimes sarcastic even, and an absolute delight. She sings all kinds of  songs from memory, and not just ones she makes up, actual songs, thinks she can read and does so to her dolls on a regular basis.

She loves to paint:

And, wants to do everything herself, including vacuuming:

Hmm…this reminds of someone…

Definitely sisters.

Even though they have very different personalities. They mostly get along and play well together. It’s very cute to watch, especially when they are not screeching at each other or fighting over something.

Well, I think that evidence would hold up in a court of law.

I can’t believe how much I love those two.

Have a great week!

It’s Been A While

This is really just a test. I typed up some words in MS Word and then I cut and pasted here to see how it worked. It might make it easier for me to update this blog. I use it as my “diary” and record of what is happening/what happened in our lives, but the blogging software is so slow and glitchy, I gave up using it.

Here are the most recent photos of Victoria and Fiona:

Victoria was at the Fair tonight and we rode some rides together. Fiona is  sitting  in a really really big chair.

If this works well, maybe I’ll do it more often.

Happy Birthday Victoria!!!

I can’t believe my little baby is two years old! She is so delightful and brings so much joy and laughter into our lives! She has almost all her teeth (one to go), says all sorts of words, including duct tape and Chapstick, knows she is two years old, loves to sing and dance, read and do puzzles, play hide and seek with Fiona, and generally anything Fiona is doing. She LOVES her sister and misses her when she isn’t there. She loves to climb and jump, and to cuddle her soft dolls. Her smile and her little dimples simply light up my life. I’m pretty sure her favorite animal is an owl and her favorite color is purple. I think her favorite phrase is “I want that.”

She is incredibly helpful, cleans up when asked, loves to brush her teeth. She loves to draw and paint, recently discovered stamping, and I know for a fact her favorite dinosaur is the Minmi. It’s a small, herbivorous Anklasaurian, kind of like Victoria herself. She eats a variety of foods, including salad with truffle dressing (I wasn’t a big fan), dumplings my friend made, aged cheddar cheese, smoked salmon and pickled herring, prosciutto, so basically anything. Olives especially, and any and all fruit. Even though their personalities are so different, in many ways she is very much like her sister. I just can’t get enough of her and I can’t believe how fast she is growing up!

She is very observant and she is also very fast! She keeps us on our toes (literally, as she we have to put things up high because she will climb to reach anything she can see). She knows to say “CHEESE!” when we take a picture (or when she wants to each cheese).

We had cupcakes after dinner, sang happy birthday, and Victoria opened her presents.

Here are some videos from tonight and from a couple of weeks ago, when Fiona and Victoria were pretending Victoria didn’t feel well. Fiona tucked her in on the couch and then read to her.

Happy Birthday my sweet girl! I love you with all my heart! I can’t believe how lucky I am to have you and your sister. You are truly a gift.
