May…May…May…What happened in May? John and I saw The Cure at The Hollywood Bowl, Fiona learned to ride a two wheeler, I made steak and lobster for dinner, John built a swing set, Fiona performed “When the Saints Come Marching In” at her second piano recital, and Victoria continued to be ridiculously cute. We got new neighbors and a new fence on one side.
Boy Victoria is just ramping up the cuteness. For one, she says all sorts of words, seat dances, dances on her feet, sings (the other day I heard singing “Frere Jacques”, the melody anyway, not the words. She thinks she can read and does so loudly and with much emphasis. She gives kisses, hugs, and zerberts whenever possible. She cleans up after herself and others, and always reminds me to put her hat on her when we go outside, and even insisted I put sunblock on her face, then arms, then legs. Her smile and her smiling eyes light up my world.
We ate a lot of tangerines and made orange juice using our own oranges.
Here are all the photos, sort of in chronological order:
Fiona and Victoria helped build the swing set. Fiona especially helped screw in bolts and stain the wood so that it can resist the weather a little bit better.
We went to Member’s Night at the zoo and saw the new baby giraffe (there is another one born last week, they happen several times a year, all boys):
Chadwick the lion actually standing up, something I’ve rarely seen:
Fiona got a trophy for her recital, but she said she didn’t think she should have one because trophies are for winning and she didn’t win anything. And she felt that others might be confused
What is this thing? (and she’s wearing my shoes, photos courtesy of Fiona):
So that was May in a nutshell. I don’t remember most of it, it seems so long ago. June and July flew by as well, and I can’t believe August is almost half over. Fiona starts school in a week and half and I start in two weeks. Hopefully I will get the rest of the summer written up soon.
