Here is what we have been doing lately:
Harvesting:
Not pictured is a large bag of green beans and more tomatoes and several cucumbers that were a tasty addition to dinner.
Repairing rocks:
Getting Fiona ready to begin school by purchasing a backpack and getting her a desk chair and a lamp so she can do the homework I hear they give in kindergarten these days:
This again:
I am beginning to understand why some parents choose baby-led weaning. I had so much more time and energy (even though I did not realize it at the time) when Fiona was a baby, but now? I am eagerly awaiting the day I can stop pureeing things, get rid of all the little storage containers, and stop worrying about whether or not I remembered to bring something for Victoria to eat in case we happen to be out and about during a meal time. The good news is that other than bananas, she seems to like everything I feed her. She also likes it when Fiona feeds her:
My girls can be so serious:
In bizarre weather news, we had some nice storms in July. Thunder, lightening, warm rain:
We loved every minute of it and hoping for more (rain that is, not lightening because it causes fires).
Cute letter from Fiona (written by a counselor at camp):
We finished up swimming lessons. At the end, Fiona was not only swimming, she was taking breaths. Still not using her arms, but much more confident with her kicks and loving it. No photos this year though.
We went horse back riding again:
More precisely, Fiona did. I just walked along with Victoria while John led the horse. No cookie courage necessary on that day, Fiona hopped right on the horse.
Also did some bull riding:
Somewhere on John’s phone are photos of me doing the same with Fiona, but I do not have them on my computer, so I guess the evidence will remain buried for now. By the way, this was at a birthday/going away party recently. See? We do have a social life.
Rolling around and hanging out:
Starting to become more upright:
Victoria started really crawling last week. Here is a video we think is particularly funny:
And that’s it. Victoria may or may not have an ear infection. I think I already said her crib is in another room and she has been sleeping a little better. Today we lowered it because she was holding onto the side and pulling up to her knees (sort of like in one of the pictures above). I am so tired right now, I know I’m forgetting something. If I remember, I’ll write about it when I post more of our France trip.
I hope everyone is having a good summer so far and finding ways to stay cool.
Have a great week!
