Marysville and Seattle

At the end of my last post, we got to Bellingham and picked up our third rental car of the day, The Mitsubishi Endeavor. We were not immediate fans of the car because it was bigger than what we wanted. Originally, we reserved a Toyota RAV4, but then decided we wanted something smaller, like a Camry or a Fusion, something that gets better gas mileage. But alas, the selection at the Bellingham International Airport was limited.
At any rate, it fit all our stuff and we got to keep the car seat we rented in Vancouver, so after some futzing around, we were on our way to Marysville. Marysville is about 30 miles north of Seattle. My long time friend and Thumb Sister Kendra lives there so we made it our Washington destination. We stayed two nights and had a wonderful time!
Fiona LOVED Kendra’s yard with a little pool, plants to water, strawberries to pick and eat, a “tunnel” to walk through, and nothing that was off limits. Kendra has a really child proof/child friendly house, probably owing to her two feline children or her three canine kids. Fiona did great with the dogs and had a great time. It was just what she needed. We enjoyed leisurely mornings, and played tourists in the afternoon. Parking in Seattle is expensive! We went to Pike Place market and rode on the great wheel. We even bought a big salmon and took to Kendra’s husband Ben’s parents’ house (got all that?) for a barbeque. Fiona had a blast running around their backyard, climbing the monkey bars and hanging, swinging, riding the tricycle, and running up and down a ramp. Ben’s family was warm and welcoming and we felt at home. And the food was DELICIOUS! Best macaroni salad ever!
Here are photos from our time at Kendra’s. Some were taken with my phone, so the quality is very poor.

It had a little pirate chest that Fiona tried to open. No luck though.

Pike Place Market is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers’ market in the US (according to Wikipedia). At least it promises to be sanitary:

We were sad to say goodbye to Kendra and Ben and their fur-babies. Fiona really enjoyed it there and so did John and I. Kendra is a wonderful hostess and even gave me tea for the road and really yummy smelling body butter, that makes my skin nice and soft.
I was going to write more, but a certain person that I know is pressuring me to publish another post, just in case they missed what happened during the trip while they were on it.
